Recorded distribution in Britain and Ireland

Present on all rocky coasts of Britain but most common on the west coast. Recorded from two sites on the west coast of Ireland.

Water clarity preferences - High clarity / Low turbidity
Medium clarity / Medium turbidity
Low clarity / High turbidity

Limiting Nutrients - Not relevant

Other preferences - Unstable substrata

Additional information

This biotope is found in a range of wave exposure regimes from exposed to extremely sheltered.
