Recorded distribution in Britain and Ireland

Present on the Orkney and Shetland Isles, north east coast of Britain, the south west, the Welsh coast and the west coast of Scotland. Also present on the west coast of Ireland.

Additional information

Nitrogen is the primary resource that limits seaweed growth and consequently variations in seaweed growth should parallel variations in nitrogen supply (Lobban & Harrison, 1997).
