Designed to support marine wildlife recording projects, waterproof guides have been published by the Marine Life Information Network (MarLIN), at the Marine Biological Association, Plymouth.
The following guides are available:
- The 2nd Edition Identification Guide for Selected Seashore Species, aimed at rockpoolers and featuring Laminaria ochroleuca and 14 new species identification images. £2.50 per copy.
- Identification Guide for Selected Shore and Shallow Sea Species aimed at rockpoolers and snorkelers, and featuring species and habitats that are on a UK Biodiversity Action Plan. £2.50 per copy.
- The 2014 Edition Identification guide for selected marine non-native species. The guide is aimed at marina and port operators, recreational boat owners and all those who have an interest in maintaining healthy and productive inshore waters. It can be downloaded for free from The Bishop Group website or a print copy can be ordered for £5 to cover postage and packaging.
The species in these guides have been selected for their ease of recognition, their importance as species which play a key role in maintaining particular communities, as ones that are likely to be affected by global warming, or that are non-native.
