ID guides
Designed to support marine wildlife recording projects, waterproof guides have been published by the Marine Life Information Network (MarLIN), a part of the Marine Biological Association at Plymouth.
The following guides are available:
- Identification Guide for Selected Seashore Species of South Devon. This guide contains 39 Southern intertidal species with clear, colour identification images.
- The 2nd Edition Identification guide for Selected Seashore Species, featuring Laminaria ochroleuca and 14 new species identification images.
- The Identification Guide for Selected Marine Non-native Species (available to download for free at www.marlin.ac.uk/marine_aliens)
- Sealife Surveys: Identification Guide for Selected Seashore Species of South Devon
The species in these guides have been selected for their ease of recognition, their importance as species which play a key role in maintaining particular communities, as ones that are likely to be affected by global warming, or that are non-native.
