A type of tubeworm (Annelida)
Key Features
- Tube made of large sand grains.
- The many honeycomb shaped tubes may form large reefs.
- Worm itself is rarely seen but lives inside tube.
Where to look:
On the lower shore.
Effects of wamer seas:
May become more common in Britain and be found further north.
Effects on the environment:
Established reefs can exclude other plants and animals.
