A small starfish (Echinoderm)
Key Features
- Small, plump, cushion-like with 5 short arms up to 5 cm across.
- Skin rough, with projecting spines.
- Often orange colouration around edge of arms .
- Can be olive green, brown, orange or blueish.
Where to look:
In rockpools, under boulders on the lower shore.
Effects of warming sea:
Will become more widespread.
