SPLASH is a project to provide information on Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) species. Five priority marine species and three priority marine habitats have been selected as the focus of this project. They have been chosen on the basis of current acute threats to the species and habitat, the effects of which cannot at present be predicted.
Local action to protect biodiversity is taking place all over the UK. Look at the species / habitat pages above or see the local action page to see what is being done.
BAP updates
Marine priority BAP species and habitats have been reviewed using Review of Marine Nature Conservation (RMNC) and BAP criteria. The BAP criteria incorporate a quantitative threshold, particularly for the 'decline' and 'threat of decline' criteria. See the BAP update page for more information.
